Wolves to remodel recruitment team after scouting departures

There is further change to the scouting department.

Wolves are set to reshape their recruitment team after Crystal Palace swooped for two members of the scouting department.

Head of scouting Ben Wrigglesworth is set to join the London club as their new chief scout and be reunited with sporting director Matt Hobbs, who he worked with while at Wolves.

Wrigglesworth is highly thought of at Wolves and was instrumental in the deals to sign fan favourites Joao Gomes, Andre and Matheus Cunha - while also flying out to Brazil to convince J.Gomes to choose Wolves in 2023.

He was also part of a recruitment team that attempted to sign David Brooks and Harry Wilson last year, but they were overruled by head coach Vitor Pereira and head of professional football Domenico Teti, who led much of the transfer strategy last summer.

Wrigglesworth will also be joined at Palace by Elliott Sutcliffe, who worked as his assistant in the scouting team at Wolves.

It is understood the moves for the pair were completed before the decision to sack Wolves head coach Rob Edwards and replace him with Gestifute client Cesar Peixoto.

As they both depart, Wolves’ technical director Matt Jackson will now oversee a remodelling of the recruitment team and the pair are expected to be replaced.

The recruitment team, head coach, chairman and technical director are all expected to be involved in the club’s transfer strategy, although agent Jorge Mendes is likely to also be involved.
