Wolves striker Kevin Doyle makes provisional Ireland squad

Forward Kevin Doyle was this afternoon recalled to the Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan.

The 30-year-old striker has made caretaker-boss Noel King's 26-man squad announced today for the two games on October 11 and 15 in Cologne and Dublin's Aviva Stadium respectively.

Doyle, who has 53 caps, hasn't made Ireland's last four squads under former manager Giovanni Trapattoni and hasn't figured in their last 10 internationals going back almost a year.

His last cap came last November as a substitute for Hull winger Robbie Brady in a 1-0 home defeat to Greece.

But boosed by his improved form after agreeing to stay at Wolves, the former Reading man returns to the fray next month alongside Albion striker Shane Long and Villa defender Ciaran Clark.

Wolves will now be keeping a close eye out for two more international call-ups which would be required for their League One trip to Carlisle on October 12 to be postponed.
