The Portuguese attacker has one year left on his contract, with the option of extending it by a further year, and was expected to depart this summer.

However, after being included in the squad for the pre-season trip to Spain, Podence was given an opportunity to impress.

Now, Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab have made Wolves aware of their interest in signing Podence before the transfer window slams shut.

They are yet to make an offer for the forward, but Wolves value Podence at around £8.5million (€10million).

The attacker missed the pre-season tour of America due to a calf strain but having now recovered, the 28-year-old was named on the bench for the opening day against Arsenal and came off the bench in the 74th minute, making his first competitive Wolves appearance since May 2023.

Head coach Gary O’Neil is open to Podence staying with Wolves this season and adding him to the attacking ranks within the squad.

Goncalo Guedes was also named on the bench for Saturday’s game but was an unused substitute, with his future still uncertain.

Meanwhile, Wolves are still working to offload Fabio Silva, who is training separately from the first team at Compton.

The club are aiming to make a handful of signings, including a Premier League experienced centre-back.
