The 23-year-old centre-back currently plays for Eredivisie side Feyenoord but is attracting interest from other European clubs.

Wolves are understood to be admirers of Beelen and have made contact with his representatives over a summer move, but have not contacted the club.

They have been quoted just under £17million to secure his signature, as Wolves look at potential Max Kilman replacements.

Wolves are keen to keep their captain but with West Ham and Newcastle already having bids knocked back, the club are bracing themselves for more offers.

The recruitment team have compiled a list of potential replacements and Beelen is among those Wolves are interested in.

Also on the list is Switzerland international Nico Elvedi.

The centre-back is currently away with his country at the Euros after another good season with German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

Wolves opened talks to sign Elvedi last summer when he had just a year left on his deal, but when a move did not come to fruition, the 27-year-old signed a new four-year deal until 2027.

However, Wolves remain keen on the defender and could make a move if Kilman departs.

Beelen and Elvedi are among a list of names Wolves are considering in defence, although they are unlikely to make a move unless a centre-back departs.
