Wolves loan out Leon Clarke to Wigan

Wolves loaned out striker Leon Clarke to Championship rivals Wigan Athletic just as the transfer deadline day curfew passed.

Both clubs confirmed the deal shortly after 11pm, with Clarke heading to the DW Stadium on a deal until the end of the season.

Clarke has slipped down the pecking order with the arrival of £2million striker Benik Afobe from Arsenal and is out-of-contract in the summer.

He's made 19 appearances this season and scored two match-winners as a substitute, netting at Leeds United and Sheffield United.

The Wolverhampton-born forward, 29, returned to his home-town club for around £750,000 from Coventry City in January of last year.
