Wolves fan Manny deserves hero’s welcome after Toon trek
By the time you read this I hope that Wolvers supporter Manny Singh Kang will be close to reaching St James’s Park ahead of Wolves’ Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Manny and his son Jeevan are raising funds for the charity Dementia UK, who offer specialist advice and support to help families affected by dementia. Manny has raised around £30,000 in the last six months, and almost £300,000 for the charity since 2018.
Jeevan was struck down with injury midway through this latest challenge and reluctantly had to pull out of the walk, but Manny is still going and aims to complete the 195-mile trek in four days, arriving at the Sir Bobby Robson statue outside St James’ Park at lunchtime today.
Last season, Manny undertook a charity walk of more than 120 miles from Molineux to Stamford Bridge for the match against Chelsea. Back in 2019, he completed a charity cycle of more than 100 miles to Anfield for Wolves’ final game of the Premier League season at Liverpool. Indefatigable is the word that springs to mind.

Anyone sensing something special could be brewing from Wolves’ FA Cup run just yet?
With a fifth-round tie against Brighton overcome in midweek, Gary O’Neil’s side now face a home clash with Championship side Coventry City in the quarter-
finals. Pass that test and Wolves will be back at Wembley for the first time in five years.
On that occasion, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side lost in heartbreaking circumstances, surrendering a two-goal lead late in before succumbing 3-2 in extra-time. O’Neil and his coaches will want to go one better.
There are parallels with that era on the pitch today. The win over Brighton had the hallmarks of a Nuno era win, with Wolves able to soak up pressure while always posing a threat on the counter-attack with genuine pace.
That 2018-19 season was Nuno’s first in the top division and Wolves proved to be an unknown quantity, upsetting some of the bigger teams on their way to a seventh-place finish.
O’Neil’s Wolves have that element of surprise about them, too, and they have performed brilliantly to get into the top half of the table this season. Who knows what awaits as we enter the latter stages of what has been a compelling 2023/24 season.
