Wolves face fight to land Matt Mills

Wolves face a fight to land Matt Mills after Reading manager Brian McDermott underlined his determination to keep the defender.

Wolves have refused to deny making a £3million-plus approach for the 24-year-old Royals captain, who has also been linked with Albion, Stoke and Blackburn and has a year left on his contract.

McDermott's side were led by Mills as they missed out on the Premier League after being beaten in the Championship play-off final by Swansea and the manager wants to keep his star assets.

He said: "It's a good group here and the group is everything to me. We want to keep our best players. There will be interest in a lot of our players, for sure. When it comes about and is concrete then clubs will speak.

"If something comes then we will make a decision on what's right for the club. From my point of view we want to keep this group together."
