Wolves defender set to depart this summer

The defender is expected to leave this summer.

Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever is expected to leave the club this summer after being omitted from their pre-season trip to Portugal.

Cesar Peixoto‘s squad are currently being put through their paces during their warm weather training camp on the Algarve, but Hoever has not travelled with the team for the week-long trip.

Instead, the player and club are working on a solution for the 24-year-old, who is expected to leave Wolves this summer with just one year remaining on his contract.

Hoever has stayed home to focus on securing a move, while Peixoto prepares the remaining players for the upcoming transfer window.

The Dutchman arrived at Wolves in a deal worth up to £13.5million from Liverpool in 2020 but has struggled to establish himself at right-back.

In the six years since his arrival he has played just 33 senior games for Wolves and has had loan spells at PSV, Stoke, Auxerre and Sheffield United, with another move away this summer now set to be agreed.

Tolu Arokodare has also not travelled as he closes in on a move away, after Fiorentina and Trabzonspor both has loan offers rejected, while Sam Johnstone is the other senior player that is not with the squad in Portugal.

His absence is due to his ongoing rehabilitation for a shoulder injury, however he is also likely to leave the club in the transfer window.

Manchester United showed an interest but have since signed Karl Darlow, while Everton are the latest club to be linked.
