‘We know what we have to do’ - Wolves boss makes Black Country derby vow
Wolves face fierce rivals West Brom at Molineux on Sunday.
Cesar Peixoto is not fazed by Wolves’ lack of preparation time for the Black Country derby compared with fierce rivals West Brom.
Wolves have just three clear days between their EFL Cup defeat at Everton and Sunday’s showdown at Molineux, while Albion have had a full week to prepare for the derby.
Peixoto made nine changes to his Wolves side for the cup tie with one eye on Sunday and insists his players will be ready to fight for victory against their rivals.
“Because of that (preparation time) we managed the game and made a lot of changes to the team,” Peixoto told the Express & Star.
“Not only because of that, but because I want to put minutes in some players to bring more solutions for us.
“You’ve got to manage the situation. We want to stay competitive, for sure we want to recover well.
“We know what we have to do. We know we have a clear identity, the players know what we have to do with and without the ball.
“We have to recover. We don’t have a lot of time to train, it’s true, but it’s the way in the Championship and we’re going to fight to win, for sure.”
The much-anticipated derby will mark Wolves’ first home game of the month after four consecutive matches on the road.

Peixoto is relishing the return to Molineux and wants to deliver victory for the club and its supporters.
He added: “I know the importance of this game to the supporters, we know that. We are going to look at this game to win it like we do to all of them.
“We have missed playing at our home. We have played several games in a row away and we now return home in an important game.
“We want to fight to the end for our supporters to win this game.”
The Black Country derby is one of English football’s oldest and fiercest rivalries, bringing together two of the founding members of the Football League.
There will undoubtedly be a fiery atmosphere at Molineux on Sunday, adding another layer of intensity to an already highly anticipated clash.
Peixoto hopes his side can relish that atmosphere and channel it as they did in their last home outing against Stoke City, when Wolves came from behind to score four goals and claim victory.
“We have to do like we did in the last game at our home, our fortress,” he said.
“We need the support, we are going to do all we are capable of to win the game. The supporters are very, very important for us at our home.”
