Transfer column: Wolves keeper link, West Brom striker bid rejected and Aston Villa in West Ham reports

The EFL campaign is over with the Premier League edging towards a conclusion.

And with the top flight season almost over, the talk of transfers and who will go where in the summer has already begun.

The Express & Star brings you the latest daily transfer column with all the latest talk surrounding your clubs.

Not all posts are the view of the Express & Star with some from third party outlets.#

Wolves linked with goalkeeper

Wolves look set to need a new number one goalkeeper this summer - with it looking likely Jose Sa will depart.

They still have Sam Johnstone in the building - but reports have emerged linking them with a move for Wolfsberger AC goalkeeper Nikolas Polster.

Sky Sports Austria have claimed Celtic and Wolves are interested in the keeper - who would cost around £1.5m

Clubs in Germany are also interested, but it has been claimed there is strong interest from Wolves and the Scottish giants.

Sa remains on radar of Turkish side

Sticking with goalkeepers - it has been claimed in Turkey that Wolves keeper Jose Sa remains on a list of targets for Besiktas.

The Turkish side signed Emmanuel Agbadou back in January and have already been linked with a summer move for Yerson Mosqeura.

And the Turkish outfit are looking at Sa. It comes after the shot stopper was previously linked with moves to both Nottingham Forest and to Saudi Arabia.

Joao Gomes latest claims

It was reported earlier this week that the Wolves midfielder had turned down advances from a number of clubs including Leeds.

He will leave Wolves this summer with Atletico Madrid reportedly opening talks over a £39m move.

It has been widely reported that Madrid is Gomes’ preferred destination, but there have been new claims that Liverpool still hold an interest in Gomes.

After a difficult transfer window last year, they have Gomes as one of their targets so he could well remain in the Premier League.

Albion have ‘seven figure’ bid for striker rejected

West Brom have reportedly had a ‘seven figure offer’ for one of Scotland’s top young talents turned down.

Falkirk forward Barney Stewart has been turning heads north of the border - after an impressive campaign.

The Scotland under 21 international had a superb loan spell at Dunfermline before being recalled by the Scottish top flight side.

He has bagged ten goals in the second half of the season and that has put a number of clubs in England and Europe on alert.

And according to the Daily Record, Albion have had a seven figure bid turned down.

They have also claimed the club has now made multiple offers for Stewart, and it remains to be seen if they will submit a new bid.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest properties in Scottish football, with some pundits even tipping him for a World Cup all up.

Will Albion move for a new number one keeper?

There has already been reports that Albion are in for Anthony Patterson from Sunderland in a bid to bolster their keeping department.

Joe Wildsmith will no doubt depart - and there is still a question mark around Max O’Leary ahead of the released and retained list emerging.

Patterson was a target for Albion in January - but there has been talk among fans around a former keeper.

Alex Palmer left Albion for £5m around 18 months ago - but he featured just 12 times in the Championship last season and is likely to struggle to nail down a place in the Premier League.

Should Albion return for Palmer? There is an argument he should be on their radar for sure. Proven at Albion, proven at the level, still a great age for a keeper and knows the club.

Whether it would be possible, either a permanent or a loan, it is certainly one that could be considered.

Released and retained close

Albion are close to announcing their released and retained list - with the news expected to be delivered before Saturday’s deadline.

Here is all you need to know:

Villa keen on West Ham man

Aston Villa re only of a handful of Premier League clubs who have joined the race to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, according to reports.

The midfielder is attracting interest from a host of clubs - with West Ham expected to sell the Portuguese key man even if they survive.

Manchester United have long been linked with Fernandes and are one of the front runners.

Malen to sign for Roma

Multiple reports have claimed Donyell Malen’s move from Villa to Roma will become permanent, with the Serie A club activating their buy clause in his loan deal.

Malen has had an impressive second half of the season in Roma, leaving Villa on loan a year after his arrival.

Sky in Italy have claimed that Roma paid a £1.7m loan fee for Malen - and when it becomes permanent the deal would cost £21.6m.
