Steve Bull: Wolves tour of America is a great opportunity

Wolves’ pre-season tour of America is a great opportunity for the club on and off the field.

We saw how successful the trip to Asia was a few years ago, and now gold and black is across the pond!

I’m over here with the club as an ambassador and it’s great to watch training and see the fans.

The Wolves brand is important and they’re putting themselves out there. We want to show how good and big this club is!

On a footballing note, it’s tough for the players to deal with the heat, but at least their fitness will improve and when they return to England they will be fitter and stronger than before.

As professionals they will get on with it and be better for it in the end, before we kick on with the season.

They have three good games and then one more at Molineux before 2024/25 gets under way.

The West Ham friendly is coming up tonight and there will be some familiar faces with Max Kilman and Julen Lopetegui.

But I don’t think Wolves will be thinking about that or worried about it. They will give the game a good go and focus on having a productive pre-season.

I’m sure Wolves’ forwards will also want to get the better of Kilman!

It’ll be a bit strange for Max to play against Wolves. He was a good servant for the club and his former team-mates will be pleased to see him, but they will also want to do well against him.

I think Wolves are still a little bit short at the back and need a couple more players adding to the squad.

I’m hoping we keep the same squad we have, but it’s very likely that players will come in and out.

We need some more strength in depth and experience, with a lot of youth in the side currently.

I’d take 14th in the Premier League again all day long and maybe with a cup semi-final thrown in.

Gary O’Neil will want to be a bit higher than that, but he’ll also need the finances to improve the squad further and then be able to kick on from last season.
