Rodrigo Gomes is enjoying the family feel at Wolves after making the switch to the Premier League.

The £12.7million signing arrived last month from Braga and has just enjoyed a week in Marbella on Wolves’ first pre-season trip of the summer, with the team now back in the UK and flying to America next week for a 12-day tour.

Gomes has already integrated with his new team-mates and says the close-knit group and strong leadership cohort has helped him settle in his new surroundings.

“They are really nice,” Gomes told the Express & Star of his team-mates.

“This team is like a family. They’re always joking and laughing with each other.

“They’ve received me really well and it’s really important for me.

“We spend so much of our time together and it’s really important to have a good group, because then you have a good team.”

Gomes already speaks good English but is still working on perfecting it, while a number of players in the squad speak Portuguese and have also had a big hand in helping the attacker find his feet at his new club.

“Almost everyone (has helped), but it’s easier for me to talk with Cunha because he’s Brazilian and he speaks my language,” Gomes added.

“He’s really nice. He’s always laughing and joking and a really good player.

“It helps when you play with top players. He scores a lot of goals.

“Sarabia too – everyone has helped me a lot.”

That translates to the training ground, too, as Gary O’Neil works on getting his messages across to his side and the new players.

O’Neil and his coaching team have been helping Gomes adapt to life at Wolves as they get ready for the new season.

Gomes said: “He’s (O’Neil) been really nice and been trying to explain everything because it’s a new club and new language for me.

“He’s passing me all the information for the team, the movements, the pressing and what we need to do.

“He helps me a lot.”
