Rob Edwards sets style of play plans for Wolves in the Championship

Wolves’ style of play has come in for some criticism.

Rob Edwards is working on making Wolves ‘a good watch’ next season as he aims to evolve the team for a Championship promotion push.

The head coach is under some pressure from unhappy fans who have been left disillusioned by Wolves’ style of play, with relegation already confirmed.

However, Edwards says he is focused on the improvements he wants to make to the playing approach, to bring supporters on board in 2026/27.

"We've got a clear way in my head and how we see things, certainly,” he said.

"I want us to be more on the front foot, more aggressive. We want to be better in every aspect.

"In terms of formations and that sort of stuff, I won't go into it now, but we've got a good idea of that and obviously then how that affects the recruitment as well.

"It's pretty clear in our minds on how we want to be able to look.

"We want to win games of football ultimately, but we want to try and do it in a good way that's aggressive. I'd like a fast game, that's what I would like.

"I'd like it to be a fast game and a good watch.”

Wolves will also require a squad rebuild this summer, with several players set to leave and a number of new additions expected to arrive.

The process of rebuilding the squad and deciding who will stay and go has already begun and Edwards hopes Wolves can be ‘ambitious’ and ‘aggressive’ in their pursuit of their top targets.

"We're trying to accelerate as fast as we can and push things,” Edwards added.

"At the moment now it's more a lot of conversations with agents, a lot of that's happening.

"We're trying to be aggressive and we're trying to do things as quickly as possible this year.

"It's not me that would be speaking to the agents at the moment unless they were to call. Obviously, we've got a team of people that will do a lot of that and then come back to me and the coaching staff.

"We want to try and be ambitious as well. We want to try and bring in as strong players as possible and we want them to know we're of interest.

"We've had some good conversations.”
