Poor defending cost Wolves dear as two lapses led to what should be viewed as two points against Plymouth at Home Park.

There were just seven minutes on the clock when an error from debutant Richard Stearman dropped let in Rory Fallon to put the home side ahead, before Michael Kightly's equaliser restored parity.

Seip rose unmarked to turn in a corner in the second half, with debutant Sam Vokes the hero with a 79th-minute equaliser.

The opening goal of the game borderlined comical. A long goal kick from home goalkeeper Graham Stack was completely missed by Stearman and Fallon was quickly on it, prodding the ball past Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and into the net.

Their lead lasted 12 minutes. An inviting ball dropped down on to the foot of Kightly. He lashed it on the volley and into the net, for Wolves' first goal of the season.

The deadlock was broken again just 10 minutes after the restart - and Wolves had no-one to blame but themselves. The defence were absolutely nowhere as Marcel Seip connected with a corner into the box to guide the ball past Hennessey.

In attack, you could not argue with what Wolves produced after that. Kightly's dipping effort had Stack in trouble, before the goalkeeper recovered to tip over.

Stack was again to the rescue shortly after, denying Sylvan Ebanks-Blake from six yards with another good save. From the resultant corner he was even better, parrying George Elokobi's free header and recovering to deny Ebanks-Blake with his foot on the rebound.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy threw on all three substitutes in response. Striker Andy Keogh was replaced by new signing Chris Iwelumo and ineffective left-winger Stephen Ward was replaced by Matt Jarvis.

The real telling change was the introduction of new signing Vokes for Ebanks-Blake in the 77th minute.

Two minutes later, he had opened his Wolves account, linking up with Iwelumo for the equaliser.
