Many outlets reported that Wolves agreed a £10m deal for the Aston Villa centre-back after a proposed move to Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce had stalled.

The club have not made any bid for the 31-year-old and Wolves do not have an interest in pursuing any such deal for the player.

The player has since confirmed a move to Fenerbahce.

Wolves had missed out on the signing of midfielder Manu Silva after a move to Molineux was hijacked by Benfica.

A €12million fee (plus €2million add-ons), alongside a 20 per cent sell-on and personal terms were agreed with Primeira Liga club Vitoria SC, but the player chose to stay in Portugal.

Wolves continue to work hard to bring in an additional defender and midfielder during the window following the signing of Ivory Coast international Emmanuel Agbadou.
