Lescott: See you next year

Former Molineux favourite Joleon Lescott won a top Everton award last night – and sent a "see you next season" message of support to his old pals at Wolves.

Lescott, a £5m sale to Goodison last summer, got the vote of his team-mates when he was named Player's Player of the Year after his first season of Premiership football.

But after the defender completes his final match of the season at Chelsea on Saturday, his thoughts will immediately stray to the looming Black Country derby battle.

"I'm delighted for all the Wolves boys, the staff and especially the fans that they have made the play-offs," said Lescott. "They deserve it.

"I can remember just what it's like to get through and win that final so I want to wish everyone attached to the club the best of luck for the play-offs and hopefully the final.

"Hopefully, I'll see you next season!"

Lescott missed Wolves' one and only Premiership season so far because of serious injury.

But his Everton boss David Moyes said: "The biggest compliment you can pay him is that he has never looked out of place once, and having to play at left-back for so long has just underlined that.

"He did not have the opportunity before of playing at this level, having helped Wolves to promotion, but Joleon is certainly a Premier League player now and would not be out of place in the England squad."
