Ladislav Krejci on Wolves confidence boost after emphatic Liverpool win and his battle with Mohamed Salah
Ladislav Krejci said Wolves’ stunning victory over defending champions Liverpool will serve as a major confidence boost and proof they can compete with anyone.
The bottom-placed side had another night to remember at Molineux - during what has been a difficult campaign - sealing an emphatic late win.
Krejci was central to Wolves’ resistance as they fought off waves of Liverpool attacks and were clinical in the final third.
Asked about the lift the victory would give the team, Krejci said: “A lot. Many times we put in good team effort, but didn't take any points, or one point, or something like this.
“I remember Liverpool away, Arsenal away, many other games - and this gives confidence for the players, the staff, the fans, for the team in general, a lot. It's very good energy.”
He added: “It’s very important for us, for our confidence.
“We're showing ourselves that we can beat the top teams in the table, so it's very good for us for the upcoming games because there’s still belief there.
“You never know what can happen, so we will continue.

“I'm happy for everyone, for the players, the staff, the fans, that we can have this time now after not an easy period. So, yes, very positive.”
The triumph followed victory over local rivals and fellow Champions League chasers Aston Villa just days earlier.
“It’s unbelievable,” Krejci added. “Two wins in a row against big teams.
“Aston Villa were third when we played against them. Liverpool are up at the top of the table. They won the Premier League last season. So, amazing for us, yes.”
Krejci made several notable tackles, blocks and clearances to help Wolves frustrate the champions as he faced the task of minimising Mohamed Salah’s impact.
Salah netted Liverpool’s equaliser after a misplaced pass by Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, and while Krejci admitted he could have done better to prevent the goal, he was satisfied with his overall display.
“It was good, but in the goal I gave him the space to shoot,” he added.
“So, yes, I'm happy, but also a little bit unhappy.
“But in general, we take the three points, and this is the most important.
“Everybody doing their best in the defence. We're working a lot, close, many chances. In the middle, guys keep a lot of balls, and up front they were ready for the situation and scored.
“So, very good teamwork.”
