Kenny Jackett: Wolves need a cutting edge

Boss Kenny Jackett today insisted Wolves will be a "good team" once they crack things up front as the drive to add a cutting edge goes on.

Wolves remain third in the table after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Blackpool but their goal tally stands at six in six games.

Head coach Jackett has been forced to switch his striker search elsewhere following Leicester's decision to keep Chris Wood in the loan window.

On Saturday Wolves forced just one save from Blackpool keeper Joe Lewis from Michael Jacobs's first-half header as they struggled to create chances.

Jackett pledged to continue to improve the goals ratio, both inside the club and outside.

"Are we looking for more? Yes," he said. "Both internally and externally we want to have more of a cutting edge than we did on Saturday.

"We haven't scored lots of goals and it was the same again.

"We've played very good football and haven't been outclassed by anyone, but we're looking for the right combination along the front line to be more free-flowing in terms of goals scored.

"If we can find that, we can be a very good team. We'd like to score more goals, and I'm sure the players would like to too.

"We're not too far away because we've come into the league and been competitive and played good football.

"But we want a bit more and you can see where that's needed."

With Charlton away tomorrow night, Jackett admitted there were no loan signings imminent.

"Right now, before tomorrow, that's not something we're necessarily looking at," he said.

"We're always looking to improve but is there someone coming in suddenly? No."

Jackett made his first changes of the league season as he rested Lee Evans and Bakary Sako following their two games during the international break..

"They'd done a lot of travelling and had both played in the two games," he said.
