Dave Edwards: Keep up that level and I’m sure Wolves will be OK

It was another good performance from Wolves against Liverpool and they need to maintain this level for the weeks and months to come.

It was probably the most complete performance from Wolves, in terms of playing well for 90 minutes.

In recent games, they have been able to do it for a half or 60 minutes and then the levels have dropped off a little.

Whereas for the whole 90 minutes, they were good against Liverpool. They looked fit, they looked strong they had a good game plan but ultimately they were up against a very good team who put them to the sword.

I felt like the first half an hour in particular was Wolves strongest spell of the game.

They came out of the blocks fast and got the crowd behind them which is something you always want to do in those big games.

But they could not take advantage of some situations. The midfield three were terrific. Andre was absolutely incredible again along with Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina.

The attributes these three have at winning the ball back and driving forward are going to dictate how Wolves are going to play this season.

One thing I did think let Wolves down a little bit was once they won the ball back they did not attack quickly enough or directly enough.

I know as a player you feel that sometimes you need some possession in a game like that just to get a little bit of a breather. But there were moments where they did so well, they set the trap, they won the ball back and they just needed to go quickly while Liverpool were out of shape.

A bit like the Wolves goal where Lemina evades the press of Liverpool and then they went quickly.

It shows when they do that they can hurt teams but I did not feel they did it enough on the weekend.

Being patient can be good a times but I would say that is more against lesser opposition when you are trying to tire them out a little bit.

That is the one area where Gary O’Neil might be a bit disappointed from an attacking point of view.

Defensively, the timing of the goals hurt Wolves. Letting one in right on half-time was disappointing despite it being a really good goal from Liverpool.

Conceding quickly after you score is equally frustrating, they went after Liverpool and got a little bit ragged.

It has been a sad week for the football club following the passing of Steve Plant. He was a proper Wolves fan and I would say he was a Wolves legend.

The work he has done in the community, and the fundraising things he has done over the years has been a credit to him and his family.

He was always putting others before himself and I would like to send my condolences to his family – he was a terrific guy.

I have a few of his books and they take pride of place in my office at home, I wish his family all the best in these tough times.

I would also like to say a well done to Manny Singh Kang, another person who puts the club ahead of himself.

He did a 48-hour walk around Molineux, which is an incredible effort, it is. He started on Thursday and finished before kick-off.

He got to do his final laps with the fans there which would have been special for him – well done to him.
