Clubs chasing signature of Wolves goalkeeper this summer
The Wolves goalkeeper is likely to leave this summer.
Turkish giants Besiktas are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Jose Sa this summer, the Express & Star understands.
Talks have been held with intermediaries over a potential deal, with Sa a client of Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, but it is understood there has been no official approach to Wolves yet.
Reports in Turkey have suggested that Besiktas are interested in signing Sa on a free if he can negotiate a release from his Wolves contract, which expires in the summer of 2027, although there is the option to extend it by a further year.
However, it is understood Wolves are relaxed on Sa’s situation and are prepared to wait for the right deal to sell him, particularly as the goalkeeper is currently away with Portugal at the World Cup.
A number of other clubs across Europe have shown early interest in signing Sa, who is expected to leave Wolves this summer.
The 33-year-old is unlikely to play for the club in the Championship next season, with Wolves also preparing to move on Sam Johnstone.
A new number one is expected to be signed, while it remains to be seen if Dan Bentley will stay as number two or if a total refresh of the goalkeeper department will be made.
Wolves had the chance to sell Sa in January when Nottingham Forest opened talks with the club and made a £1.5million offer, but Wolves swiftly turned it down.
The player was keen to leave the club at the time but remained as number one until the end of the season and captained the team on multiple occasions.
