A shoot-out will decide who goes to Wembley if Wolves and Albion are level on aggregate after two legs.

And after suffering the agony of FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough on penalties in February, the Baggies boss is eager to ensure there's no repeat.

"We will be practising penalties somewhere down the line this week," said Mowbray.

"It's important that we do practice penalties and we try and give the players a philosphy because, as we saw in the Middlesbrough game, a lad who was way down our list, and who we didn't want the pressure on, ultimately missed the one that put us out.

"We've got to get to the point where the ones who are not natural penalty takers have a game plan.

"If they've got to make that walk and hit that ball they've got to know exactly where they want to put it, and with a bit of power, because they've practised it and rehearsed it.

"But let's hope it doesn't go to penalty kicks because there's too much at stake for that."

Mowbray admits the possiblity of penalties to decide Albion's fate with Wolves – coupled with two young children – have given him sleepness nights.

And he revealed he had been toying with the idea of practising spot kicks in front of the Birmingham Road End – a plan used by Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd last season – after Sunday's thrashing of Barnsley.

"It was about 4.15am and I was getting kicked in the ear by Lucas, there was screaming in the other ear, and I was thinking about penalties," he said

"I thought about Aidy Boothroyd and the fact that last year he asked the crowd to stay back.

"But it would have been a bit presumptious for us to do that because of the tightness of the league."
