Nathan Judah's Wolves tour diary: Day 3 - Tapas and Training games

We'll start with a little 'Diary After Dark' to begin today's entry as we finished work very late the night before and had no food in the apartment.

There's only so many times we could have greek yoghurt with granola and with all surrounding supermarkets closed, it was time to venture out into Faro.

I must admit I love European eating times!

At home the Mrs prefers to eat at 6.30pm and I'm more of a night owl, so dinner at 9.30pm suited us just fine.

We had been recommended a lovely Portuguese tapas restaurant that we quickly descended upon and ordered post-haste.

Crispy squid, oxtail croquettes, camembert, chorizo and honey cones together with anchovy bruschetta - that will do nicely thank-you very much!

LK: I always eat earlier at home too, but I must admit I love the lifestyle of going out later for food and it's still warm! The food was excellent.

After a romantic promenade along the marina, we sat at a nice local bar and had a couple of drinks to see the night in.

But nothing crazy as we had to be up pretty early ahead of the first training match of the season vs Santa Clara.

Santa Clara had a great season and have a Europa Conference League qualifier in nine days, so we were expecting the team to be further on in their pre-season than Wolves.

But a strong starting XI from Vitor Pereira ensured domination for the first 45 minutes.

LK: The result matters for very little and the work being done with the team is paramount. That means it was a worthwhile outing for Wolves in two 35-minute halves.

It was great to see Joao Gomes and Andre together again in the centre of the park.

Sasa Kalajdzic scoring in his first game back will do him the world of good.

The Austrian international took his goal superbly well, pressed from the front and most importantly came through the game unscathed.

Goncalo Guedes' effort can not be denied, so far he looks lively and is a strong presence amongst the team on early viewing.

We of course have had a lot of false dawns with Guedes and the smart money would suggest that could very well be the case again.

But there is a player in there somewhere, can he do it this season? We'll have to wait and see, but I have seen him smile more in two days than I did the entirety of last season.

Toti Gomes captained the side in the first half, while Matt Doherty wore the armband after the break.

I understand the fans want for Joao Gomes or Emmanuel Agbadou to get the captaincy when Nelson Semedo's next club is finally confirmed, but Toti has been my dark horse all along - watch this space.

The training game was a good work out in searing heat, but my favourite part of the game was the very last 10 minutes.

Wolves seemed to go up a gear on the insistence of Vitor Pereira and Fer Lopez rose to the occasion.

His work on the right was really positive, taking up the Sarabia role, but a lot more direct.

The link-up play with Jorgen Strand Larsen was outstanding and should have yielded a couple of goals.

It's early days for Lopez and he will need time to adapt, but the signs are encouraging.

Keeno spoke to Wolves' new right-wing-back Matheus Mane following the game!

Of course I jest, Mane will be looking to play further up the pitch, but the youngster did not look out of place.

He spoke maturely post-match and is happy to play in any position if it helps the team and gets the England youth international more minutes on the pitch.

LK: There were lots of promising signs with Lopez and others, while Mane was a very pleasant young man to interview. One story is already out but I'll have more to come Mane this week!

Back to Chez Keen and Judah to put out all the content via a supermarket shop.

We managed to pick up all the necessities for the rest of the week, however when I saw Keeno's basket, it looked more like I was shopping with an 11-year-old.

It's chicken caeser salad tonight, although a couple more alcoholic beverages may have dropped into the shopping bag inadvertently.

It's a long day, we deserve it!
