The striker was given an extended break after featuring for Portugal’s under-21s in the European Championships, where they were knocked out by eventual winners England in the quarter-finals.

After his most successful senior season in his young career, where the 21-year-old scored 16 goals over two loan spells with Anderlecht and PSV, Silva is attracting plenty of interest this summer.

Big European clubs Ajax, Sevilla, Roma, AC Milan and Galatasaray have all expressed an interest in taking Silva next season on loan with the option of a permanent move.

Wolves have maintained throughout the summer so far that they are keen to let Julen Lopetegui assess the player in pre-season before making a decision on his future, and Silva will now join up with the team on Friday night (July 21) as they fly out to Portugal for their latest training camp.

Once a decision is made on Silva, and if Wolves do allow him to leave, it is understood they would prefer a permanent move in order to recoup as much of the £35million they paid for him.

But his future at Wolves is still up in the air, and with Fabio due to report back to training, Lopetegui will get his chance to assess him.

The player has previously been quoted saying he wants to stay out on loan next season, but he is contracted at Wolves until 2026, with the option of a further year, meaning Wolves are in a strong position once a decision is made.

Meanwhile, Sasa Kalajdzic has returned to the field after playing in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackpool on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old has increased his workload as he aims to make a full return following his anterior cruciate ligament injury that he suffered just 45 minutes into his Wolves debut back in September.

Kalajdzic is now aiming to be fit in time to make an impact when the Premier League season gets under way.

Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha scored as Wolves beat Blackpool 2-0 in the first of two separate 60-minute matches.

In the second game, a youthful side with several under-21 players and some first team players who have just recently returned to pre-season, then lost 4-0.
