Wolves are due to announce the signing of Portuguese winger Daniel Podence for £17million today – while they remain on the lookout for a striker.

Bringing in Podence was the priority for Wolves, and now it is merely a case of his capture being officially confirmed.

The 24-year-old, who can play on either wing or as a No.10, travelled to England from Greek club Olympiakos yesterday and underwent a medical at Compton.

He is set to become Wolves’ first senior signing of this transfer window, putting pen to paper on a long-term deal.

At £17m, he will be the third biggest buy in the club’s history – behind Raul Jimenez (£32m) and Adama Traore (£18m).

French midfielder Enzo Loiodice has been snapped up for the under-23s too, on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Now, ahead of tomorrow night’s 11pm deadline, Wolves remain on the hunt for a centre forward to support Jimenez.

Nelson Oliveira has been a target this month and, while interest has cooled over the past few days, they could still make a late swoop for the 28-year-old.

The club had been put off by AEK Athens’ asking price, but a move for the former Nottingham Forest, Norwich and Reading man is not completely off the cards.

Wolves, meanwhile, have announced they have been given 2,126 tickets for the Europa League last 32 trip to Espanyol – priced at £38.

They were hoping to take more than 3,000 to Spain and held discussions with the RCDE Stadium side, but they are having to settle with the initial allocation.

During those talks, Wolves insist it was made clear that any of the gold and black faithful who obtain tickets into the home areas of the ground will be refused entry or ejected.
