Wolves are expected to recall Ryan Giles from his loan spell at Shrewsbury Town.

The teenager, who turns 20 later this month, is likely to be called back by Nuno Espirito Santo ahead of their trip to the south coast to face Southampton on Saturday.

England Under-20 flyer Giles has played 25 times for former Wolves defender Sam Ricketts’ men this season, scoring a rocket on his Salop debut against Portsmouth.

He suffered a knee injury in October, which kept the youngster out of Shrewsbury’s starting reckoning for some time until a return between Christmas and new year.

Giles put in a stunning display at Championship side Bristol City in the FA Cup recently.

And with Wolves left-wing-back Ruben Vinagre seen to be struggling following Wednesday night’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester United with an apparent hamstring problem, he is set to return to Molineux earlier than planned.

Giles was due to spend the season at Montgomery Waters Meadow after previously starring on loan at AFC Telford United.

He made his Wolves debut against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup last campaign.

Wolves’ squad is stretched – with Diogo Jota and Willy Boly also on the sidelines – and boss Nuno has repeated his desire for new signings.

He stressed fresh faces are needed 'ASAP' after the 1-0 loss at United.
