Wolves won’t go changing – Conor Coady

Conor Coady has praised youngster Ruben Vinagre after his impact on Saturday – and says Wolves won’t be changing shape following their defeat to Watford.

Vinagre was the standout performer during a poor 2-0 defeat to the Hornets at Molineux.

The Portuguese teenager replaced Jonny Castro Otto at half-time and injected some energy into Wolves’ play.

Coady said: “Vinagre’s a great little player – he’s fantastic, great to have around.

“He’s a brilliant lad as well. You always know that when he comes on he’s going to do you a job.

“He’s a real attacking left-sider and when he comes on, he doesn’t look out of place at all.

“He’s a young boy who’s learning but he’s a fantastic player, and he’s going to have a fantastic future.”

It was a first defeat since the second game of the season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, who went down to two goals inside a minute in the first half.

Watford stifled Wolves’ midfield, nullifying Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

But Coady says 3-4-3 will always remain Wolves’ formation – and changing it would make things worse.

“We’re not used to playing other formations so we stick to what we know,” he said.

“We’re good in that formation. We’ve just got to listen and learn as much as possible

“That’s our shape. If you start changing it, it gets worse.

“You’re always hoping to get better and willing to get better. We’ll improve on our shape, the way we play, and hopefully we’ll get better.”

Every single Wolves ticket – home and away – has been sold so far this season.

Each Molineux league game has been a sell-out, as have all their away games with November’s trip to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium the latest to sell out.

Captain Coady praised the club’s supporters for sticking by the team in defeat on Saturday.

“They’re the best fans,” he added. “We know they will respond for us, we really do – they’re top, top drawer.

“Over the last couple of years now, the way they react to us, the way they help us, it drives us on.

“The second half (on Saturday) was better from our point of view, there was a reaction.

“We all know the supporters are going to be with us and we’re going to need them as it’s such a tough division to play in.”
