Danny Batth is in Wolves' plans

Club captain Danny Batth still has a future at Molineux, sporting director Kevin Thelwell has stated, as Wolves prepare for a busy week in the transfer market.

A number of players are set to move out either on loan or permanently before next week’s Europe-wide transfer deadline. EFL clubs can loan players until 5pm next Friday.

Batth hasn’t made the matchday squad for Wolves’ opening two league games against Everton and Leicester, with Kortney Hause preferred on the bench.

But sporting director Thelwell says the academy graduate – as well as youngster Bright Enobakhare – remains part of Wolves’ first-team plans.

“Danny’s been outstanding for this football club in terms of what he brings on and off the field,” said Thelwell.

“At the moment he’s very much part of the plans and part of the group.

“Bright has proved to be a very capable player. Situations can always change in football but they are both part of the plans."

The likes of Dominic Iorfa, Jordan Graham, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Joe Mason, Michal Zyro, Paul Gladon and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh are all training separately at Compton Park – under former Crewe boss Steve Davis – as they look for moves away from the club.

Thelwell said most of them are likely to move on when the market picks up this week.

“We feel like we’ve had our transfer window and and now there’s another to come,” he said.

“Unfortunately for that group they’re part of a movement where the club has jumped forward very quickly.

“When that happens you bring in a lot of players and they find themselves not getting opportunities at first-team level and we have to help them find solutions elsewhere.

“It doesn’t mean they’re not good players, because they all are.

“They’re victims of circumstances.

“It’s been a bit quiet for a few weeks but we think there’ll be an explosion in terms of loan deals this week.”

Thelwell already has one eye on the January window and says Fosun will back more investment if it’s required.

“Fosun have already demonstrated they’ll be supportive,” he added.

“For sure we’ll work as hard as we can to say OK let’s review and re-evaluate and see our needs going forward

“I can’t say we definitely will sign players, but I can’t say we won’t either.

“There’ll be an opportunity to bring players in if we need to.”
