The 18-year-old shot-stopper was snapped up by Wolves after completing pre-season with their Under-18s over the summer.

He has been tipped for success by his former boss Mike Dunn who coaches Rushall’s Under-18s and Under-23s.

Pardington, from Aldridge, said: “This is a dream come true for me. I have been waiting for this my whole life. I always wanted to be a footballer since I started playing when I was seven. It was quite a shock when I completed my signing. The hard work comes now and I hope I can take this opportunity.”

Pardington has penned a one year deal and played his first game on Saturday for the Under-18s where Wolves lost 3-2 against Everton.

He hopes to break into the Under-23s side, but says Wolves might loan him out half way through the season to gain more match experience.

Joining Wolves has been a big step up on the footballing scale. Rushall play in the Northern Premier League, which is step seven on the English football pyramid, while Wolves are Premier League.

Pardington has enjoyed getting used to his surroundings at Wolves’ Compton training ground

“It is amazing, Compton is just getting bigger everyday,” said Pardington. It has been a massive change in terms of football and the surroundings.”

He added: “It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get here, I am surprised to have been picked up late as I have never been to an academy.”

Pardington played for five years at Rushall, most recently appearing for their Under-18 and Under-21 side, and had started training with their senior side.

But his former coach Dunn says it is a fantastic move for the young goalkeeper.

“ I am chuffed for him to be honest. He has come through the ranks, he has been getting taller and taller each season

“Jamie has got great ability, he deserves his move to Wolves definitely.

“I think he can go on further now. He has got this opportunity. He has done really well and will probably be making a name for himself. He trained with Rushall’s first team a few times but he signed as soon as Wolves came in. And it is not just any professional contract - but with a Premier League team. He is in the right place, he has got a lot of progression with him. I am sure he will be training everyday. I do believe he will make it as a professional.”
