Wolves keeper John Ruddy: Burton our toughest test

John Ruddy has hailed Wolves' bouncebackability as he called for a professional approach against Burton today.

Wolves haven't lost two games in a row all season and followed last weekend's 4-1 defeat at Villa with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Reading on Tuesday.

"We understood we needed to bounce back after a very disappointing defeat at Villa," Ruddy said.

"The lads were ready to go again and prove the doubters wrong.

"Every game from now until the end of the season you have to take on its merits, regardless of where teams are in the league.

"If we have to bite, kick and scratch our way through games, or win a scrappy game 1-0, it doesn't matter how we do it, we just have to pick up points.

"We've given ourselves a massive chance but the message is 'one game at a time'.

"We've got nine cup finals, to use the old cliche and Burton is going to be the toughest game of our season.

"The position in the table indicates they're going to fight and scrap for everything thy get.

"We can't go into this game with any sort of complacency. We've come across teams that have made it extremely difficult for us – Sunderland springs to mind.

"We need to take that attitude into it and go about it in a professional manner."

Wolves have only lost six games all season and Ruddy said the bitter taste of defeat was a motivation to ensure it doesn't happen again.

"I think it's the desire of the individual, which then becomes the collective," he added.

"Losing isn't a nice feeling and when you haven't done it that often – we've lost six games this year, which is a fantastic stat – it's important not to lose two in a row.

"It continues some sort of momentum. You don't want to be in a pattern of losing two or three, because that can become four or five.

"When you taste defeat you don't want it to happen again and the fact we haven't done that is really refreshing."
