Wolves will only buy players with different characteristics to what they already have, Nuno Espirito Santo has stated, as he declared himself delighted with his squad.

The January transfer window opens in two and a half weeks and Wolves are expected to do business, with a striker and a right wing back their priorities.

Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini may also be brought in on permanent deals, while outcasts Michal Zyro and Prince Oniangue are expected to move on, as well as possibly Ben Marshall.

Nuno said 'increased quality' and 'different characteristics' were the two things he'd be looking for in any potential signings.

"We are very clear, we know exactly what we have to do," he said of Wolves' January business.

"We know which way we have to go and the decisions we're going to make will be made with a lot of thinking time, a lot of consideration and a lot of dialogue knowing that we still have a long way to go and we cannot make any kind of mistakes.

"When I say that, to come to the squad of Wolves in this moment he has to be something that gives us an increase of quality and different characteristics that we don't have."

Several new scouts have been hired to source potential signings from across Europe and Fosun have made money available to spend to give Nuno and Wolves every possible chance of winning promotion this season.

With the team currently flying high at the top of the Championship and playing some of the best football witnessed at Molineux for years, will it be hard to improve on what they already have?

"It's not a question of hard or not hard," Nuno said.

"We're very happy, (maybe) nothing can change, who knows."

As for the possibility of signing up some of his five loanees on permanent deals, the head coach, who said most transfer links in the press were 'absurd', added: "I think the contracts are very clear on the players on loan and the clauses, what they have are very clear.

"I'm sorry I'm being very evasive. It doesn't have a point to put out what we're thinking.

"We are very, very happy with the squad that we have."
