What West Brom coach Matt Gill has said following survival amid future speculation
The coach was credited with playing a big role in the turnaround under James Morrison.
James Morrison was rightly showered with plaudits after leading Albion on a long unbeaten run that secured Championship survival.
Albion’s form under Morrison led to the club legend being handed the managerial job on a permanent basis - having served as interim boss three times in the space of 12 months.
One man who played a big part in the revival under Morrison was coach Matt Gill - brought into the club following Morrison’s first game as interim boss.
Gill. a former EFL midfielder who served as first team coach at Ipswich Town, has gone build a reputation as a top class coach, working with Russell Martin at MK Dons, Swansea, Southampton and Rangers.
He came in alongside Morrison with many Albion players outlining how much of an impact Gill had on them during the final months of the campaign.
And after being given the job on a full time basis, Morrison made it clear he would like to keep Gill on his backroom staff.

He said: “They’ve been fantastic around the place, with what they’ve given me and what they’ve given the club.
“We will assess that after the end of the season.
“I would love to (keep him).”
Gill’s future has been the subject of speculation among fans in recent weeks. Having worked with Martin on a number of occasions and with the former Southampton boss linked with a move to Watford, there was debate over whether he would join his former boss again.
There is still no confirmation over whether Gill will remain at Albion next season, but Gill has spoken about his time at Albion in a post on Linkedin.
He explained that he was pleased to play a ‘small part’ in Albion’s survival.
