West Brom's transfers reviewed

On the face of it this deal will make little sense to many Albion fans. Keith is the wrong side of thirty, couldn't force his way into a struggling Blackburn team and then there's the fact he is an ex-Wolves player. I must admit with Zoltan Gera and Chris Brunt out injured I was hoping to see a wide man come in.

However, Keith Andrews is an Irish international with Premier League experience and the deal we have offered him that runs until the end of this season is financially risk free. Maybe we should give this guy a chance before we make a decision on him?

The saga of signing Liam Ridgewell eventually came to a happy conclusion. His versatility within the back four gives us competition and cover in a number of positions, namely at left back. He will also add to our ever increasing average height within the squad, a matter we may come to rely on against certain opposition. The fee also highlights the lack of money within football at present. Reports suggest we have signed Liam for under £2million and for me that again represents value for money for a player who has played virtually his entire career in the top flight.

Finally our first signing of this transfer window. Scott Allan has already impressed everyone at the club including Roy Hodgson. His signing may well have been with one eye on the future but his ability and keenness to impress has moved our Head Coach to state he may have a role to play this season. He needs match practice and time to acclimatise to the Premier League so maybe a few cameo roles from the bench.

Through the exit we have seen Roman Bednar leave on a permanent deal and I would like to wish him well for the future. He had a rather topsy turvy Albion career but always gave us his all and regularly scored goals. Also leaving albeit on loan deals are Gonzalo Jara Reyes and Joe Mattock I hope the game time improves their form.

So that's the window done and dusted, what do you think? Have we done enough to ensure Premier League football next season?

Time will tell.

We definitely need a few more wins to move away from the threat of the bottom three. A result at Craven Cottage tonight would be a good start. History is against us as we have never won a Premier League game at Fulham. In fact we have been on the end of some proper drubbings and their current home form is even better than our current away form. Last season we arrived in London with a decimated squad and got thumped but with players coming back from injury tonight's game offers us a much better opportunity to get a result.

Jonas Olsson, Youssouf Mulumbu, Peter Odemwingie, Shane long, Gareth McAuley, and Nicky Shorey are all fit and rested, while Paul Scharner, Steven Reid and Billy Jones are all returning to training. Add to that the new signings and the squad looks to be shaping up, we may be missing wide players but other than that we look strong enough to see this season out.

So to summarise, we haven't spent a fortune, we have cover for most positions, and we still have a seven point gap between us and the bottom three.

Now if we can just sort out our home form things could look even better.

Up the Baggies.
