West Brom young prospect Alex Williams joins Hibernian on loan

The 21-year-old featured for Albion in their defeat at Newcastle United last month.

West Brom full-back Alex Williams has joined Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes at right-back during the Baggies’ narrow 3-2 defeat at Premier League outfit Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on August 26.

Williams made his debut in the first round of the competition against Derby County in the previous campaign in August 2025 and made his league bow as a late substitute in a 1-0 win at Stoke City later that month.

He joined Albion’s youth ranks in 2016 and penned his first professional deal in January 2023.

In addition, Williams has represented Wales at every level from under-16 to under-21s - amassing 22 international youth caps in total.

His only previous senior loan experience came in 2024 in the form of a one-month stint at Stratford Town in late 2024.

Hibernian are currently seventh in the Scottish top-flight after collecting six points from their opening three games.

They face Hearts at Easter Road on Thursday evening, with the two teams locked on points.
