West Brom searching to replace Paul Jewell

West Brom boss Tony Pulis will step up his efforts to replace Paul Jewell next week after insisting he has no hard feelings towards the departed coach.

Jewell left the Hawthorns after just a week and is now taking legal advice over the manner of his departure, but Jewell insists he wishes him well.

And Pulis hinted he heard rumours of Jewell's departure at the weekend, before he left the Baggies on Tuesday after refusing to take a pay cut to accommodate Gerry Francis on a part-time basis.

Jewell has been linked with a possible move to Hull City as Steve Bruce's new No 2, saying: "He's been linked with a few jobs so we'll see what happens.

"I hope he gets back into it, because he's a good football man and the game is where he belongs. I had a phone call on Monday saying Paul was in for the Charlton job but I don't know.

"I spoke to Jewelly on Sunday. That was the last time I spoke to him and since then I have been concentrating on getting things sorted for this club.

"He's a good football man and I hope he gets an opportunity. Obviously it's not Charlton now, but if it had been there or Hull he's a good lad to have on board.

"People make decisions and you have to move on. I've got nothing but respect for Paul. He's a good guy.

"We're working on that. We're hoping by next week we'll have that in place."

Pulis wants to replace Jewell while he is still on the lookout for a new goalkeeping coach, with academy coach Mark Naylor currently filling in with the first team.

Meanwhile, Pulis and No.2 Dave Kemp will hold the fort. "Me and Kempy have done it by ourselves before and Gerry comes up every other day, so we will get on with it.

"Lots of people have been mentioned for the goalkeeping job."
