West Brom hoping for 'deja vu' in their season as they head to Preston

Deepdale has been a relatively happy hunting ground for Albion down the years.

And last year it proved to be the point where Albion's season really kicked into gear.

Their start in the first full campaign under Carlos Corberan had produced goals but maybe not the results to match.

Albion had picked up just two wins in their opening games as they went to Deepdale on the final weekend of September, to face a Preston side who had not dropped a point at home.

What transpired was a result that kick started the campaign.

Albion romped to a 4-0 victory against the odds, and it showed that on any given day they can blow a side away.

This season, as they prepare to head to Lancashire tomorrow, the circumstances are slightly different.

The home side are without a win in seven, and despite Albion struggling for victories themselves, they are unbeaten in their last nine games.

But many of them have been draws, and everyone can see that Albion are not quite hitting the heights they were in the first six games of the season.

So ironically Preston represents a big chance for Albion to give their season another kickstart and a boost and a bit of a barren run.

And it comes at a time when they probably need to start doing it if we are perfectly honest.

Corberan's men have drawn so many games recently, but still sit just outside the play-off spots.

We have said in recent weeks that it is down to the standard of the Championship, and it is. That is along with results continually going Albion's way.

That will not last forever, and the draws just cannot continue, some of them have to be turned into wins.

It isn't to say Albion should not have won any of the games they've drawn, because they should have. In fact, some should have been comfortable wins given the chances created.

Last year's trip to Deepdale showed just what Albion can do to a team. Lets hope tomorrow turns out in a similar fashion.
