West Brom freeze their season ticket prices

Albion are freezing their season ticket prices as they become the only club in the Birmingham and Black Country area left in the Premier League.

The Baggies revealed the prices today and tickets went on sale at 9am, after Monday's 1-1 draw at Tottenham left the club on the brink of mathematical safety.

Season tickets behind the goals in the Smethwick and Birmingham Road End will remain at £399 for online buyers, working out at just over £21-a-game.

Supporters in Halfords Lane and the East Stand will pay between £449-£499, while children under the age of 17 can still get theirs for £99.

The age range for young adults has been widened to 22 and under, adding two extra years to the previous under-21 category.

Chief Executive Mark Jenkins said: "Pricing in football remains a sensitive issue but we genuinely feel we are doing all we can to offer our fans the best possible deal."

The club put their adult season ticket prices up by £50 ahead of this campaign, returning them to 2011/12 levels following a price cut in 2012/13 and subsequent freeze.

Some fans criticised last summer's price hike, citing the economic circumstances of the local area, but they are still some of the cheapest available in the Premier League.

And in February, a study found that tickets at The Hawthorns were among the top five affordable in the top tier when compared to local average salary.

Some supporters, disgruntled with the style of football under Tony Pulis, have warned that they won't be renewing their seats for next season.

Attendances at The Hawthorns have dipped slightly this season, and the average gate of the 17 league games so far is 24,516, compared to last season's average of 25,064.

The attendance of 22,062 recorded at the home game against Swansea on Tuesday, February 2, is the lowest the club has ever had in the Premier League.

Average attendances at The Hawthorns had been slowly decreasing in the two seasons before this one, but they were falling away by only roughly 150 seats each year.

Albion can secure their seventh consecutive season in the Premier League at their game at home to West Ham this Saturday.

Season tickets cost more if not bought online.
