West Brom attacker makes steps forward after small blow

It was yet more misfortune for the Baggies’ No.26.

Albion attacker Tammer Bany is training with colleagues in Portugal as he bids to put late-season misfortunate firmly behind him.

The Baggies man endured what is understood to be a minor injury on the final day of last season, the defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday.

Bany, 22, has been working during the summer to overcome the small setback and has played a part in pre-season and is in Albion’s Algarve training base with colleagues.

The attacking midfielder, a January 2025 signing from Randers in Denmark, was a half-time substitute at Hillsborough and picked up the niggle as James Morrison’s men signed off with defeat.

The setback would not have helped Bany’s case in pushing for a place in the Jordan World Cup squad for the showpiece in north America this summer.

But Bany is partaking in training drills with his club and, while there remains progress to make, he is said to have recovered well. He did not play a part in the friendly win over the Owls at St George’s Park last Saturday.

The injury in early May continued more misfortunate for the attacker since his £3.3million arrival almost 18 months ago.

Bany has struggled to get up to speed and had niggling injuries during his first six months at the club, before a setback during the tour in Austria 12 months ago.

The attacker then required surgery on a ruptured thigh muscle around the turn of the year, which required four months on the sidelines.

At times at the club Bany has been the forgotten man among supporters, and boss Morrison said in April the attacker needs to “feel the love” at his club.

Bany has only played eight times, all as a sub, for the Baggies.
