Tony Pulis: No hard feelings on Paul Jewell

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has no hard feelings towards Paul Jewell despite the coach's shock exit after just a week at the Hawthorns.

Jewell left on Tuesday and is now consulting lawyers after being left unhappy with the circumstances of his departure.

But Pulis, who has added Gerry Francis to his backroom team alongside Dave Kemp, today wished Jewell well.

Jewell was asked to take a pay cut to make room for Francis, but refused and eventually left.

Pulis said: "I've got great respect for Paul. He's a tremendous lad and he had been out of work for long time.

"I offered him a job but it didn't work out. I wish Paul all the best, I still think he's a great lad.

"Good luck to him. There are definitely no hard feelings my way or club's way.

"To go any further into it would be wrong. He's a smashing lad.

"I don't really want to go into it. He's a good football man. I was pleased to have him in and sad to see him leave so quickly."

Pulis is now looking for a new coach to replace Jewell, despite Francis's appointment being confirmed on a part-time basis.

The Hawthorns head coach said: "Gerry was always joining us. He's been with me for seven years, Kempy for 13, so they were always coming.

"Gerry brings a wealth of experience and does a lot of different things.

"He does things we do haven't got time to do. He does analysis of games and his experience of the Premier League is absolutely first class.

"It's on a part-time basis but it's very important, and there was never any question of him not coming here."

Meanwhile, Pulis is still eyeing up potential new signings as he looks to keep the Baggies in the Premier League.

Pulis said: "It's an important two weeks in the window. The players we bring in have to be better than what we have. They have to make a difference.

"It's a difficult window if you haven't been preparing. We have to make sure the players are right.

"We've been busy behind the scenes but it's very difficult. We have to get that team winning. I really do think it will be tough.

"I've got a meeting with the chairman now. He's been very supportive in lots of respects since I've walked through the door."
