The Baggies were turned over 4-2 by the League One hosts for a second defeat in as many weekends at the home of third tier opponents.

Kick off in the Championship is drawing nearer with just one more friendly before the August 9 opener against Blackburn at The Hawthorns.

Albion still have time to make the necessary additions to their squad with a little over a month left to run of the summer transfer window. The Baggies are seeking options at left-back and in midfield, as well as in attacking areas.

Asked of progress on the recruitment front in the wake of the Lincoln defeat, Mason said: "It’s not something that I am thinking about right now, our main priority is to fix what just happened.

"From a physical point of view there are many good things that came from the last seven days, we had three games.

"And that is my ultimate focus right now."

Head coach Mason will have a first experience of the home dugout at The Hawthorns on Saturday as the Baggies head home for their final warm-up fixture.

Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano are the visitors for the first friendly own Albion's home patch since 2022, with supporters expected to turn out well for a first glimpse of the new head coach and his three new recruits so far.

Albion's new boss underlined his determination to get back out on to the pitches at the club's Walsall-based training HQ after the error-strewn defeat at Sincil Bank.

The Baggies were 2-0 down in barely two minutes, conceding from a set-piece and long range after surrendering possession in their own third, and shipped another two goals later on. It could have been as Lincoln spurned further openings early on.

"I am looking forward to the week because we have got training and a lot of work to do," added Albion's boss.

"Every day is important and so valuable at this stage in the season."
