Odemwingie ended a month-long wait for a goal with two against Blackpool on Saturday to take his Albion tally to six goals for the season.

And Brunt believes Odemwingie, who grabbed a vital later winner against the Seasiders, deserved his change of fortune.

The wide man said: "Peter has had a lot of chances in the last few games and I'm sure he hasn't been pleased with himself.

"But I was delighted to see him get two goals on Saturday and he never stops running.

"For the second goal it was a 'route one' ball up the pitch and if you don't have Peter Odemwingie chasing after it you might not get the goal.

"Credit to him, he worked his socks off again and took his two goals well.

"He never stops running, even though he's had a couple of injuries, and he does work hard, so credit to him.

"I am glad he got his two goals on Saturday."

Albion continue their bid for Premier League survival with matches away against Blackburn and at home to Wigan in the next fortnight.

Brunt hopes Saturday's win has heralded a change of luck for the team.

He said: "We hadn't got what we deserved over the Christmas period.

"On Saturday, Blackpool probably deserved to go away with something from the game and they didn't so luck was on our side."

"We've just got to try to pick up as many points as we can over the next few weeks to get out of the spell we had over Christmas.

"We didn't get what we deserved from a couple of games, but if we can play as we did on Saturday and come away from games with something then we will pick up a few points."
