Mulumbu's the spark for Chris Brunt

Albion captain Chris Brunt has hailed midfield star Youssouf Mulumbu as the spark that ignites the dressing room.

The Congo international won plaudits for his on-field performances and was named the club's Player of the Year after helping them to an 11th-place finish.

But skipper Brunt has now lifted the lid on the vital role Mulumbu plays behind the scenes in the Baggies' multi-national camp.

Brunt said: "He was my vote for player of the season. He was super last season. Ever since he came to the club he's improved.

"Game by game he gets better and better and this season he has done very well and deserved the awards at the end of the season. He's great to have around. He's always laughing, smiling and joking.

"I don't think it would be the same if he wasn't around. He's a great character to have about.

"With all the nationalities we have he helps pull the dressing room together. I think he speaks a few languages, including Spanish and French."
