Lewis Cox's predicted West Brom line-up v Millwall: Decisions in a couple of areas for boss to mull
Albion and Millwall meet at The Hawthorns on Friday night with plenty on the line at both ends of the Championship table.
Albion have delivered some impressive performances at The Hawthorns against some of the Championship’s top half in recent weeks.
They will have to do so again under James Morrison to take something from Friday night’s visit of promotion-hunting Millwall.
The Lions have been a surprise package of the campaign with aspirations of automatic promotion with just a handful of games left this term. Alex Neil’s men took a blow, however, with a home defeat to Norwich last time out and will be looking to respond.
Albion have much the same availability as in the two previous games over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Karlan Grant, Chris Mepham and Tammer Bany are back in training but in the two former’s case they will not be back until Preston on Saturday week.
Jed Wallace and Mikey Johnston remain unavailable through injury and options in wide areas remain short.
Morrison decided to use Callum Styles on left midfield with loanee Charlie Taylor behind him at left-back at Ewood Park.
The head coach’s fascinating call is whether he does likewise against Millwall, or opts to call on either teen duo Ollie Bostock, or Villa loan youngster Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba.
An extra part of the puzzle is that Millwall’s right flank features electric winger Femi Azeez - a nominee for the division’s player of the season - and right-back Tristan Crama, who has delivered assists.
It feels like a big call for the clash’s outcome.
I have leaned towards continuing with Styles and Taylor down the left with Isaac Price to the right for the defensive stability, but Azeez’s pace against Taylor is a concern. There is a temptation to use Price for his defensive running as security in front of Styles at left-back.
Morrison’s other call could be in his front two, with a pairing from Aune Heggebo, Josh Maja and Daryl Dike.
It has been Heggebo and Maja of late but there is scope for the boss to mix it up and select Dike for a powerful option, particularly useful against the Lions’ Land of the Giants in defence in Jake Cooper and former Baggies youngster Caleb Taylor.
