Jonny Drury's Bristol City v West Brom notebook

Jonny Drury brings you his thoughts and analysis from West Brom's trip to Bristol City.

Pre-game

Today is simply all about addressing the slide of away form - having won just three out of 16 games on the road since the Boxing Day bonanza.

It is doable, and given the fact Albion have been free scoring at home, they can do it away.

It is more a psychological thing, which we have seen with other sides.

Given Albion haven't been a million miles away from it on the road this season, I can't imagine Carlos Corberan moving too far away from his previous selections.

However, given my prediction record we shall see.

Team news

I won't say I had it right, but I was in the right ball park.

It is a predictable line-up. Ajayi and Pieters are Corberan's men so to see them come back in for Bartley and Townsend is about what is expected.

Would we have liked to see Sarmiento from the start, but CC of course wants to see more, because he is such a talent.

Pipa is going to feature I would imagine at some point.

Some fans may be disappointed, but you have at least five players who are options to come on and change a game.

First half

Well, we're all glad we got in at 0-0.

Albion have gifted the Robins possession time after time, but what they haven't done is punish them.

They were an inch from doing so when Alex Palmer had a meltdown trying to clear. But Albion have handed Bristol City chances on a plate. A potent front line would have done Albion over.

At the other end, Brandon Thomas-Asante has had two good openings, the second saw him go through one on one, before a last ditch tackle.

It isn't dire, but it is nowhere near sharp enough.

Post match

Two feelings sat with me post match. Frustration that we haven't got all three points given the Baggies had chances and were better in the second half.

On the other hand, after the first half it was probably a fair result.

But there were positives, and one was Josh Maja's influence off the bench.

It is the best he has looked in an Albion shirt, Sharp and linked the play extremely well.

It gives Carlos much to think about moving forward.
