James Morrison responds to Jayson Molumby link after West Brom midfielder plays in Posh win
Jayson Molumby played almost 80 minutes of the friendly success against Peterborough.
Boss James Morrison insisted he is not aware of Wrexham interest in Jayson Molumby after the midfielder featured in a friendly win at Peterborough.
Long-serving midfielder Molumby played almost 80 minutes of the 2-0 victory at London Road as Morrison’s troops signed off for pre-season in winning style.
Molumby had earlier been touted as on the radar of ambitious Championship rivals Wrexham, who last week sealed the £5million signing of former Baggies loan star Danny Imray.
It is understood Albion have received no offers for the services of the central midfielder.
The head coach said suggestion of rival interest of the Republic of Ireland international is news to him and underlined Molumby’s importance.
“I'm not aware of any of that,” Morrison told the Express & Star.

“He played today and he did really well.
“He's an important player. I see him as an important player, an important character to the squad.”
Molumby turns 27 this week and has two years to run on the contract extension he penned in early 2025.
Albion are trying to bolster Morrison’s midfield options with seven days until the start of the new season in the EFL Cup at Rotherham.
Norway international Felix Horn Myhre is a top target and Albion are understood to have lodged a bid with his club SK Brann.
Molumby is entering a sixth season as a Baggies player and is seen as one of the leading characters in the squad and has often worn the captain’s armband, though defender George Campbell did so against the Posh.
Forward pair Aune Heggebo and Barney Stewart netted after the break to seal a comfortable and deserved win for the visitors.
"It's (about) good habits,” he added of the win at London Road. “I want the mentality of trying to win every game and having that switch when they cross the white line with a winning mentality.
"And you can see that with lads working hard for each other. It was a difficult afternoon with the weather and the pitch.
"The intensity was there all afternoon. They caused us some problems in the first half with their press, we fixed it at half-time and we were much better with the ball and we could sustain attacks in their half.”
The head coach added of an “excitement” at training with his Albion squad and said their passion is worth more to him than more talent.
"I can't ask for any more of the lads,” added the head coach. “They're a joy to work with every day. I get excited to work with them.
"I'd rather work with a group with that passion than (with) the talent sometimes."
