Blackburn 2 West Brom 1 - Player Ratings
Lewis Cox gives his ratings following the opening day defeat at Blackburn.

Alex Palmer
Will be disappointed by Leonard’s second goal at his near post. One save from range.
Disappointed 5
Darnell Furlong
Didn’t offer his side enough going forward though Albion were culpable from their left. Right-back needs strengthening.
Struggled 5
Semi Ajayi
The better of Albion’s centre-halves, but Ajayi wasn’t flawless. OK with the ball but nervy at times.
Mixed 6
Cedric Kipre
Handed a start but will be remembered for his awful error for second goal. Goals came from his side of box. Needs work.
Costly 4
Conor Townsend
Struggled to bring anything to his side’s game going forward. A couple of errors as Albion’s left-hand side struggled.
Indifferent 5
Okay Yokuslu
Off colour and not near his best. Sloppy to start with the ball, improved a touch but Yokuslu and Co in midfield were bypassed easily.
Bypassed 5
Nathaniel Chalobah
His shock inclusion left most people scratching their head before game and after. Struggled to offer much to the midfield with or without the ball.
Shock 4
Jayson Molumby
Sightly more advanced role and Albion missed his energy as they were bypassed in the first half. Did what he does but fluffed equaliser chance.
Fluffed 6
Jed Wallace
New captain did not have the finest afternoon. A couple of crosses were dangerous but he was unusually sloppy. Had a shot blocked later on.
Sloppy 5
Matt Phillips
Some nice touches, some decent positions and scored a good goal. A decent performance.
Decent 6
Brandon Thomas-Asante
Ran the channels well as usual but Albion needed more in the box from the striker.
Channels 5
