Albion - the verdict

James Beattie's header gave Bryan Robson sweet revenge on the Baggies and condemned Albion to a second successive away defeat.

Beattie put away Chris Armstrong's 35th minute cross for the only goal of the game.

The Blades bossed the opening hour of the match but substitute Nathan Ellington almost grabbed an equaliser for Albion.

United keeper Paddy Kenny also saved well from Teixeira and Carl Hoefkens as Albion sought a leveller.

The defeat leaves Albion with three points from their first three matches.
