West Brom's James Morrison: We had to put on a show and the supporters responded
James Morrison knew Albion had to put on a "show" of spirit and determination in victory to inspire The Hawthorns faithful in this relegation dogfight.
The Baggies finally earned a first Championship victory of 2026 with Saturday's convincing 3-0 win over promotion-chasing Hull to breathe new life into their survival push.
Morrison's men were emphatic winners for a first league success in 14 attempts and a first under the head coach's current tenure to lift Albion one place and point above the drop zone.
Albion were relentless with and without the ball throughout in a tireless display and the home faithful responded with a backdrop among the loudest The Hawthorns has been for some time.
"In recent times, even at the start of the season, it was a tough place to come for teams," said Morrison. "So we talked about getting our home form back and making it difficult for teams.
"We had to put the show on, really, for the fans to come with us, and you've seen today that they could see it and they came with us again."
Asked about the noticeably improved energy to press and hassle opposition, Morrison smiled: "I've been asking for it! One of our big things at this time is we're going to have to fight for every ball, and they give it even more than what I expected.

"I asked for consistency into this game, and putting another layer on the performances, and it was there. I was enjoying watching it.
"We got going again in the second half, and then we kept on going."
Morrison delivered the fine victory through Josh Maja, Aune Heggebo and Isaac Price goals after encouraging performances led to two draws. But it was victory that, for now, has pulled the Baggies above the dotted line.
The former midfield legend's name echoed around The Hawthorns and the understated Morrison responded to the fans' request for a wave with the scoreline at 2-0 late on.
He said: "I heard the first bit (request), I was in the zone too much, but I'm also conscious of waving when the job's not done, as well as being respectful for the opposition."
