Slaven Bilic is determined to bolster his attacking options by signing another forward.

Huddersfield’s Karlan Grant remains Bilic’s preferred target and it is expected a deal for the 23-year-old will be completed before the October 16 deadline.

But it is also understood Albion have held talks with Bournemouth to see exactly how much they want for King.

Previously linked with Manchester United, Leicester and Tottenham, the Norwegian international has just one year left on his contract.

It is believed he is available for what would be a cut-price £10million. That figure is beyond the Baggies in one go.

But with Bournemouth eager to get King off their wage bill, it is understood they are open to receiving the fee in instalments.

And that has led to Albion making contact with the Cherries to see if they can reach an agreement on how to structure a deal.

Meanwhile, Hal Robson-Kanu will today undergo surgery after breaking his arm in the Albion’s defeat at Southampton.

The injury has forced the striker to withdraw from the Wales squad for their friendly against England and their Nations League games against Bulgaria and the Republic of Ireland. Albion will discover how long the 32-year-old will be sidelined for after his surgery.
