Bilic would like to bolster his forward options with two players this month – with the boss having initially drawn up a shortlist of players which has now been reduced to just three names.

Croatian international Orsic – who plays for Dynamo Zagreb – is understood to be Albion's primary target with the 27-year-old having already scored 17 goals this season.

Five of those have come in the Champions League with Orsic netting a hat-trick against Atalanta and also scoring against Rosenborg and Shakhtar.

Zagreb are believed to want around £9million for the forward who made his international debut in September last year.

Talks between Albion's and Orsic's representatives are ongoing with a bid expected to be imminent.

Speaking at a press conference last week, Bilic confirmed his interest in signing his fellow countryman – with the move for Orsic having hotted up after Grady Diangana suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury.

"Orsic is a good player, of course he is a good player," Bilic said.

"He made his mark at Dinamo Zagreb, not only in the league but also in the Champions League.

"He has scored four or five goals in the Champions League - a hat-trick against Atalanta.

"He broke into the national team and we have a hell of a national team – not an average one, we have a good national team.

"We are interested in him, yes. Is it going to happen? Who knows, we'll see."
