Ince, a former England and Wolves midfielder, suggested Moore’s sacking was harsh because he was dismissed with Albion fourth place of the Championship.

And he claims it is at odds with the campaign to give black and ethnic minority (BAME) coaches more chances in football.

Ince tweeted: “As a football union we have been fighting for bame so what is the bloody point when Darren moore gets sacked for being 4th in the championship someone please tell me.”

Former Albion player Carlton Palmer agreed with Ince, saying it was a ‘complete mockery’.

When the Baggies appointed Moore in the summer, he became one of the most high profile black managers in the country.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton and Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo are the only BAME managers in the top tier.

Moore’s sacking means there are now just six in charge at one of the 92 clubs of the Premier League and EFL.

Ince has managed five clubs during his career – Macclesfield Town, MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers, Notts County and Blackpool – but has not had a managerial job since 2014.
